Another Devastating Typhoon in the Philippines

Brace yourself for another typhoon especially if you’re in the Philippines. Pedring did caused a lot of property damages plus lives taken away even if how much the weather bureau or PAG-ASA announced that it will be a strong typhoon. I have been watching online news since I was living abroad and for me; I really feel the need to pray for my loved ones who are also affected by this uncomfortable situation. The hand of God is heavy for those who opposes Him or disobeys Him.

Storm Pedring, pic for illustration only
storm

I am not surprised anymore that my country is always visited by typhoons within a year. But if the true people of God will pray for their country, God would spare, save and protect them from these calamities. Now another typhoon has entered the PAR (Philippine Area of responsibility) and it was moving towards the northern part of the Philippines.

They call this incoming typhoon Quiel which will be of the same wind strength as Pedring. A lot of farmers and fishermen’s livelihood had been in jeopardy and wants the help of the government to back them up for financial support due to their loses. I understood that it is never easy to plant, nurture and grow your crop, it takes time and a lot of money to invest, same as the fishermen.

Now that another typhoon is coming, I hope that people will be more careful and follow the instructions given to them by their local barangay officials. What is good is that Filipinos do help hand in hand when calamities such as this strike the country. I pray for more evacuation centers and responsive help of the community like those who can donate food, clothing and shelter for makeshifts just to ease the problem of most of our countrymen. We can surpass this trial once again if we will just help hand in hand.

I am still undecided if I am going to pursue writing on this site a friend introduced me. In fact it was good at first but the traffic of the site was not that great compared to other writing gigs I have been into. I don't want to write a post and getting measly amounts. I don't want to waste precious time so I only choose to write on sites that offers a bigger amount for my article writings plus the fact that they seriously pay.

Anyway, happy to enter Techie She's Week 17 Blogger give-aways! This is for you!

The Value of your Money

Recession hits not only the third world countries but influential countries such as US and Europe. During this crisis, what is the best way to fight global recession and poverty? Every day I do hear people complain about prices of fuel always increasing. Aside from that, commercial goods and commodities tend to race with the competing value of gasoline.

Rupee Coins
coins

From foods, to clothing to house rentals where these three are the basic requirements needed by man, we tend to do everything possible to make both ends meet. Some do hunt for two or more jobs. Others do tend to save money by cutting off other expenses and services they tend to just to cope up with everyday living.

The value of money these days seems to weaken and weaken. People should observe discipline and know how to tighten their belts so that they can survive. Spending less and saving more is the key. Here are some ways you can spend less and save more:

Spending Less:

What are the ways that we need to spend less with? Start with your food budget; instead of getting that brand you like, opt to something which is more economical or lesser in price. Instead of frequent buying to groceries and malls, visit the nearest local wet and dry market to buy your food. Prices in local market are cheaper because their rent is less and the variety to choose an item is plenty.

Going out for a movie is not economical these days, not unless you really have a budget. But if you are like me, I’d be skipping on movie dates and just settle back home and wait for the movies to be showed online or in television. We also skipped dining out since fees for dining in increased, not only on the tariff but also on the food selections. Home cooked meals will be better and healthier.

Buy only what is needed. When you go to a mall or grocery, be sure you have a list and strictly follow your list. This means no more impulsive buying for you. If you have a credit card, better maintain only one and surrender the rest of the cards. This is the main reasons why most people are buried in debt because they carry 3 to 5 credit cards and swipe them all till they worry the next payday. What is scary is that when their next payout is released, it’s not enough to cover their expenses and the tendency is debt growing in interests.

Walk and exercise if the place you have to go to is just a few blocks away rather than using your vehicle so that you can save some gas. When you don’t have any food stock in the fridge, you can also turn off your fridge for quite some time; this will also help cut off some electricity bills. See to it that there is no leak in your pipes so that you can save on water bills and schedule your laundry so that you won’t be spending too much on water and electricity.

Unplugging appliances not in use is also a good way to save electricity. For mommies here, schedule ironing clothes. Recycle those items that can still be use and keep those bottles and newspapers handy for junk shops, you can earn something from that. Next time, I will be posting on my blog what items can we still buy on a certain value.

Crimes Committed by Teenagers These Days

I was alarmed by the news that I happened to watch online and this is with regards to the youths of this generation. In the Philippines, we often heard about natural calamities, oil price hike, the fight of Manny Pacquiao, and the unending saga of putting the previous political figures into investigation for corrupt practices.

emoticons,cute

But within this week, it was really a wakeup call to pray for. Several incidents happen which is really disturbing because I didn’t expect that at an early age, youths of today will commit crimes such as murder, rape, stealing, cruelty to animals and so much more. Just a few days ago, they talk about these two young teenagers aged 13 and 16 who were gay and the latter killed the lover using a gun inside a mall. They call it a crime of PASSION, but for me, I call it a crime of INSANITY.

Another 12 year old teen raped a 3 year old girl and another youth who killed his mother and sister. Well, I am not surprised about what the Bible talks about in 2 Tim. 3:1-5 “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.”

God has already warned us about the days to come and this is obviously that generation who is disobedient to God. Parents should know how their kids are doing, the way they up bring their child mirrors themselves too. I do believe that if you spare the rod, you spoil the child. It talks about the right discipline that we have to apply for our kids, not to harm them but to correct them. But it is much more important that we raise our kids in accordance to the Word of God and teach them the right path as parents will serve as a good model to their children.

Media also plays a vital role here. Be careful of how your kids waste their time on playing online games which is of no moral value at all particularly if it is obviously showing violence. Students should focus more on their studies rather than plugging into social networking sites. I don’t believe that being a single parent or having a broken family makes a child gone wild. It depends on such individual, if he or she is going to take the challenges of life into a positive outcome.

Now the next question is, Will our government take into consideration to lower the level of age for committed crimes so that these youths will know how to be punished by what they did? Or will we just depend on Social welfare and rehabilitation? What is your take?

No Picture Taking Please

We didn’t know about this policy as we were taking pictures outside this newly built mall. Well what do you expect? Most of the establishments are still under construction but it was really big and oriented inside. What I meant for being oriented is that most of the establishments were aligned properly and future customers or buyers here will also commend how this mall organized everything for the convenience of their shoppers.

This is what it looks outside, spacious parking space
infinity mall2

Second level of parking at the back
infinity mall1

Wish they would give more lights here because it was near the entrance
infinity mall3

Most of the stalls are foreign brands and when you said one lane, if it is a shop for shoes and sports or gears, they are all aligned the same. If it were a shop for clothings and apparel like jeans, then most of the shops will be in line with jeans only so you would not be lost or asking someone where is the shop for baby’s clothing or for bags or accessories because they are all aligned very well.

Expect the prices would be a bit pricey too because renting in such a place like this is not a joke. In fact, this is the very first mall that I got into that impressed me already even if it is not yet fully functional. Not fully functional in a sense that their grocery section is not yet done, their cinemas are still closed and the amusement park for kids is still under construction. Probably it may take some more months just to finish the whole establishment.

View inside, the floor is really clean and luminous, gives you a clear reflection
infinity mall4

The heart of the mall, there are seats you can rest into, I really like the centralized aircon here
infinity mall5

I also like how they conceptualized the food and dining area. It was really fantastic and spacious and you can really say you can relax. There is a big mount of television screened for entertainment and varieties of foods that surround you as well as good dining restaurants are also in there.

As I was saying we didn’t know that it is forbidden to take pictures inside, there was no warning signage or post as the guard stopped us when we were taking some pictures of us. Well, at least I was able to click a few shots so that I can post it here a bit, but mind you not for any other intensions. Besides, their security is tight just like at the airport where bags and belongings are inspected by a scanner. Not the usual scanners in malls, but as I have said, scanners that runs in airports when you place your luggage or personal stuffs.

By the way these were taken three months ago and still the mall is still not yet done. I don’t want you to guess anymore but it’s pretty obvious that I am talking about Infinity Mall in Malad West. If you happen to visit the place, it’s better if it is fully built where everything is in place and you and your family will enjoy.

Jaw Dropping Junior Masterchef (Pinoy Edition) Show

I really can’t believe what my eyes have seen. Kids at an early age are cooking? Can handle pressure in the kitchen! And can also think of a recipe impromptu as the ingredients are given straight in their faces and they need to pick up their chosen ingredients to cook what they have in mind.

junior chef

Wow! My jaws really dropped out when I saw those young Filipino kids cook excellent and exciting dishes. In fact, I was really challenged because good for them they have started this passion for cooking at an early age. I haven’t tried baking and this is what I really desire to learn. It is not that easy because it will take also a budget for the recipes and practice to make the recipe perfect.

I have seen the effort of those kids as well as their desire to cook. In my early childhood days, I experienced to participate in an inter-school cooking competition. At first my teacher in home economics shared me the recipe to prepare but I was really scared on splashing hot oil that is why when I first started to sauté pork with garlic and onions, I was really scared of that hot oil.

Anyway, as they say practice makes perfect. I did not win that said competition but the experience was really exciting. From what I have seen online, I was really amazed because those Pinoy kids were able to execute foreign dessert recipes with ease particularly on baking which I haven’t tried. They even showcased dessert recipes which I have just encountered hearing today and I am now curious to find out what those recipes are but of course, it will not be done by today since I don’t own an oven yet, lolz!

Good work for parents who have encouraged their kids not just to cook but to have that passion to be a chef someday. I guess this generation is really something to look forward too. One contestant also said that she learned the recipe online and the judges were also amazed to hear what technology can do for kids who also are eager to learn more and uses the advantages of information superhighway.

I also wanted to influence my kids to participate on cooking such as that. Actually, I really don’t mind if they wanted to help me in the kitchen and cook, I will be so delighted. Cooking is something that you cannot just dictate, it is a continuous process of learning and it can be an art itself. Good to watch such shows like this because it is really educational and it moulds interest of those aspiring to be good chefs someday.

Indian Bus Transportation and Streets not friendly for Pregnant Women

Sorry if I really indicated "India" in what I have to say but I am just honest about it and this is my opinion. As a foreigner living here in India, I was really frustrated on how bad the roads are and whenever we ride rickshaws and buses, it will always be a bumpy ride. We do all know that most of the drivers are in a racing mode for driving. Of course, there will be exemption to it but definitely 90% plus are really rough drivers.

I just do pray and ask God that He might give us a car of our own so that before or after I give birth, baby and I will be safe in that bumpy and dangerous ride. Bus drivers in India don’t care about their passengers. They are such in a hurry to go away from bus stops and they don’t wait for the passengers to come in. Most of the people here will run after the bus and most even the female are pushing each other to get in and they don’t care even if you are pregnant also.

In India, only A/C buses are those for travelling in provinces or long distant travel. Most of the city buses are ordinary buses which they call “BEST” which I find opposite of it. Anyway, about the bumpy and dangerous ride, whether it will be rush hours or not, buses are really fast and swift and you should be aware to catch it by running or if it stops, it will be quickie so tendency is that people would rush and push each other to get in.

The lines or queue in bus terminals in market will never be that easy too. There are allotted seats for ladies and the elderly men which you cannot sit your butt into. Public buses here are owned and operated by the government and only the provincial buses for long distant travels are owned and operated by private sectors.

Rickshaw drivers are choosy and as for the latest survey I have read on newspapers, they topped as the most hated people here in India. Rickshaw ride costs double or triple the amount against buses or trains. The reasons why most people still choose to ride rickshaw is that they are really in a hurry, carrying heavy goods or stuffs or when attending such an occasion and are wearing an elegant attire.

Now going back to the buzzing story of inconvenience, I cried that day when one man came to me and asked me to vacate my seat because that is for the elderly. Okay, I gave way, it’s really the seat sign for old ones but I was pregnant and I am really feeling my back paining. This elderly man was not so elderly at all but he does not care and he does not even know about being gentle so what the heck, I stand up and crush my way to other passengers who are also standing up, since the bus was jammed packed like sardines.

I cried for the reason that I missed my country because it has more good buses to offer plus kind hearted men and women who would give their seats for pregnant woman just like me. Half heartedly, I also felt so pity that if only I have my own vehicle, I would not be experiencing all this difficulty. I really really don’t want my child to experience this and that is why I am persuaded to do the best that I can so that we can also pass this trial and testing. Maybe God is also testing my patience and how I can still hold myself humble against the midst of people who doesn’t even know God.
I am just so thankful for God because of His protection to us that no matter how bad the roads are, no matter how rude the passengers are, no matter how fast the drivers drive, my baby and I are safe. I will just have to limit my going out particularly I am also nearing my due. This article is written to inform pregnant women to be extra careful. I have no intensions of belittling or mar the image of India because as I have said this is based on my own opinion and I am entitled to share it here in my blog, peace to all!
